About the Programme
Kumba Iron Ore, a division of Anglo American, is opening its Engineering Learnership Programme for 2026. This opportunity is aimed at unemployed South African youth aged 18 to 35 who are ready to develop technical and engineering skills for careers in the mining industry. The programme runs for 36–39 months, combining classroom‑based theory with practical, hands‑on training at Kolomela and Sishen operations.

Available Trades & Educational Requirements
Each trade has specific requirements. Below are the common trades and their minimum academic requirements:

Minimum Grade 12 Requirements (example):

For Electrical, Millwright or Auto Electrician: 40% in Mathematics and 40% in Science.

For Fitter or Diesel Mechanic: 40% in Mathematics and 40% in Science.

For Boilermaker/Plater Welder: 40% in Mathematics, Science and Engineering Drawing.

For Rigger: 40% in Mathematics, Science and Structural Drawing.
Required N2 subjects (for technical trades):

Minimum General Requirements
To apply, you must:

Be a South African citizen.

Be between the ages of 18 and 35.

Pass a Medical Fitness & Risk Fitness Assessment (RFA).
